There is a new kind of game-changer

Looking at some of the early clients of Copy & Co, I can see that the new trailblazers don’t officially call themselves pioneers, which is what makes them even cooler

Whenever I hear the phrase ‘change the world’, part of my heart rolls its eyes. After spending my early twenties saturated in this kind of chat, I eventually learned that when people speak solely in vague platitudes, it often comes from a place of vanity and/or moral superiority.

Yet when I hear people talking about a specific issue of the world, it’s a completely different story. When someone is detailed and evidence-based in their approach to fixing a unique challenge, it’s inspiring. It’s the reason why I got into startups in the first place.

Six weeks ago, I launched Copy & Co, a new copywriting service for founders and teams. So far, I’ve been lucky to work with clients who have incredibly inspiring missions, and I wanted to share more about some of them below.

There is a new kind of addiction clinic.

1 in 4 Americans battles a substance addiction that adversely affects health and happiness. Quit Genius is the world’s first technology-enabled digital clinic for multiple addictions.

Their digital clinic model allows employees and health plan members to access a proven treatment program 100% remotely. I got to write some upcoming blog content for them.

There is a new kind of digital architect.

Tobi Ajala is the founder of TechTee, a digital agency specialising in software development and design for clients like Gucci and Apple. They are also the UK’s first black-owned, female-founded and women-led digital agency.

I was blown away by how beautiful some of their websites are. This is a project they worked on for La Perla. I worked with Tobi to help her articulate some of her lessons and insights from her entrepreneurial journey.

There is a new kind of money tribe.

Emilie Bellet is CEO and founder of Vestpod, a company dedicated to helping women to be smarter with their finances. She is also, as Refinery29 put it, “The Coolest Woman In Money.”

Vestpod is a community for women to start breaking the taboo around money, and I have been a big fan since the early days. Recently, I got to help Emilie create some content for a new offering.

There is a new kind of startup catalyst.

Sophie Hebdidge is the founder of Techniclarity, which gives female founders the tech know-how they need to lead their startups. She has also been a serial founder and CTO.

She has done some incredible work (e.g. developing voicebots equipping teenage girls with the skills they need to manage their own mental health), and I worked with her to write a series of bios to use for events.

There is a new kind of PR agency.

Ecology Media is a brand and communications agency based in London, run by the powerhouse Georgia Hanias. Georgia and I have been working alongside each other with Makers over the last several years.

Lately, we’ve also been working together on press pieces, and articles for some amazing startups and scale-ups all over the world, including a digital banking app created just for teens, Copper.

There is a new kind of coach.

Evgeny Shadchnev is the founder and former CEO of Makers, Europe’s first coding bootcamp. He learned leadership lessons on how to run and scale the business the hard way and is now an executive coach himself.

I got to experience his leadership philosophy (‘trust over fear’) while I worked with Makers. He talks more about his ideas to Business Matters here. I helped him produce the copy for his new coaching website.

Make choices in line with who you are today and who you want to become tomorrow

There is a new kind of business education.

Born out of Founders Forum, a global community of the world’s leading tech entrepreneurs, Founders Academy has been pioneering a new model of education for tomorrow’s world.

Now, Riya and Asha are productising their insights from Founders Academy to build Framework, the world’s first on-demand business school. I helped write some of the copy for the pilot of a new digital platform.

All in all, it has been a pretty energising start to this new journey.

I had no idea what to expect when I started out a couple of months ago. But I’ve been reminded of how many interesting, intelligent leaders there are in the world.

They aren’t just founders. These leaders include the people following the founders, who give the founder their importance in the first place.

They’re all working in different areas, and each of the initiatives listed above is in its own field. What they all have in common is that they’re led by people who are planting trees under whose shade they do not expect to sit.

If you’re too busy to write and need quality content delivered quickly, Copy & Co is a new copywriting service for founders and teams.
